Cerestech Inc. was created in 2001 to further the development and commercialization of polymer / thermoplastic-starch (TPS) blends.
This technology has been developed at the École Polytechnique de Montréal. Several product and process patents related to the Cerestech blend technology have been granted or are currently pending.
A number of successful industrial trials have already been carried out with Cerestech blends in cast sheet extrusion, blown-film, extrusion coating and injection-molding.
Today, Cerestech is working on high performance multiphase materials through: compounding, interfacial modification, morphology control, additive development to meet demanding functional requirements. Cerestech has specific expertise in bioplastics.
Mr. Perreault has been involved with Cerestech since 2003 to structure financial and strategic business partnerships. He has more than 15 years experience in strategic consulting, financing, and the development of high-technology start-ups in Europe and Canada for venture-capital and strategic investors.
He graduated with a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from École Polytechnique de Montréal and received his M.B.A. from INSEAD, France.
Dr. Favis is the principal inventor of the technology and founder of Cerestech. He heads up the scientific development. He has 30 years of experience in the field of multiphase-polymer materials and is a well-known international expert in the area of morphology and interface control in polymer blends. He has authored or co-authored more than 200 scientific papers in the field of multiphase polymer systems which have been cited over 6,000 times. Prior to joining the École Polytechnique de Montréal in 1990, he held the position of Program Manager at the National Research Council of Canada and Group Leader at Johnson & Johnson Inc.
He received his Ph.D. in Polymer Physical Chemistry from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
